Office extension on 9th floor of Travelstart

This is an exciting architectural project we are currently working on.

The project consists of the refurbishment of an existing empty office space on the roof of a 9 storey building in Long Street and an additional 83 sqm of office space attached to the existing space together with landscaping of the remaining roof space.

Due to the high level of climatic exposure that the site experiences, the limited accessibility and space for construction available on site, from the outset we have had to design a structure that requires minimum construction time and space. We achieved this by coming up with a system of prefabricated units. The building consists of a steel framed structure with glass infill panels that is elevated off the roof by means of short concrete stubs. Externally, the building is cladded with our electronically operated timber sliding screens.

The language of the building is light and clean and unobtrusive and complements the existing building.
